Iām a historian, writer, editor and translator specialized in the language, culture and history of the Iberian World. I received my PhD in Latin American history from Princeton University in 2018 and have since taught and written widely in the fields of Global and Latin American History. I am currently obsessed with the Atacama Desert, and am writing a book about the history of ownership of water and land in the driest place on earth.
I spent my childhood between Spain and New Mexico and have since lived and worked across Latin America and Europe, becoming fluent in Spanish and French and conversant in Portuguese. Working across scholarly communities has given me a special interest in helping non-native English speakers succeed in the US academy.
In my free time I dance tango and flamenco, warble on the guitar, tell bad jokes and bake French macarons. I share my home and heart with two cats, a large flock of blue jays and a marauding squirrel.
